Welcome to my personal website! I am Weizhe Wang, also can call me Aaron, currently at Department of Economics, Cornell University.

My research focuses on Macroeconomics, specifically by developing macroeconomic models with micro foundations. I analyze unstructured data using text-based NLP, and then combine causal inference methods with structural counterfactual simulations to empirically assess the implications of the model.
Main Research Questions: 1. Empirical Facts and Macroeconomic Implications of Heterogeneous Innovation;2. Stylized Facts of Knowledge Diffusion and Place-Based Policies for Spatial Growth;3. Search and Matching with Firm Dynamics; 4. Empirical Patterns of Institutional Innovation and Political Economy Research Fields: Growth, Trade, Labor, Firm Dynamics and Political Economics |
All of my research utilizes large-scale administrative or universe-level fine-grained data. And I have established long-term partnerships with many universities and research institutions in China. For example, I have access to data (All are Universe) on firm administrative and dynamic data, all patent information from over 80 countries (With Citation Network), Chinese legal texts, local government documents, judicial decisions, employee resume information, and data on university research and projects, among others. Additionally, I have conducted extensive research on many large-scale microdata sets in the United States, such as Nielsen, Burning Glass, RevelioLabs, GSE, HMDA, CiTDB, Bills Universe, and Politician Data, among others.
